Summary

My name is Gemma Maldonado and I am currently studying a degree of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona (UB). Last semester I took a subject called: Contemporary visualisations.

At first this subject starts proposing a question, “What paper plays visualisations in the construction of our view and identities?” Continuing with this question we had to learn some terms as: artistic capitalism, cognitive capitalism, monumental and potential images or decolonization to can answer it. We read also Foucault, Deleuze and Lacan between other authors to know more about these concepts.

In third place we worked the concept of desire from different points of view working in groups. Personally, in my group we developed the question “How it operates the dispositive of desire in the publicity?” We focused in analyse advertisements and classify them depending the type of desire that operates in them.

To put in common this information with the rest of the class our team did a video where we show the terms we worked with a little bit of sense of humour using the same advertisements we used at the classifications.

Finally, this course makes me think about the images and things that surrounded me and how it affects or influence me. Also this subject suggested me to stop for a minute and analyse what I am watching. I think all the knowledge I earned are a lot of steps ahead to get out of the bubble.
